create a new database

create a table in (design view)

create an id field

create a data field and change format to DATE

create a data field and leave format as VARCHAR

open the save table again and enter the same dates in the fields (02.02.02 in
text and 2-2-2 in the date formatted field)

save, close and edit the table and try to change the VARCHAR field to DATE

saving fails because it can't change the field type to DATE

Sladi
