Saving the document, closing, and reopening it I noticed the loss of the content of the cells. I checked several times that after reopening the documents the cell were actually empty, and that rewriting characters in the cells, the content was again lost on saving, closing, and reopening the document (both leaving the application open, and closing it in the process).
