A program like OpenOffice.org must be reliable. Even for ordinary users. It is 
not a 
gambling machine where you have a probability of having your document destroyed.
Remember the arithmetic processor bug in Intel Pentium: Intel said the 
probability of 
false calculation was tiny. Yet they finally had to change all the chips.

The only acceptable solution would have been to implement exactly the same 
mechanism 
as for Excel. Even if it means a MS-Windows only solution. The current solution 
does 
not fulfil the original request expressed in Issue 8811 and those users will 
stick to 
MS-Excel.
