OOo can use ALT key already, but you have to edit the configuration file
directly. This issue is not about the question whether OOo should use ALT-key
but it is about giving the user an UI to assign such shortcuts easier.

Of cause there are some OS which use some of the possible short cuts. But that
is no problem. We do not ask to use such short cuts as default in every OOo
version. But if a Windows wants to use ALT key, do not force him to edit
configuration file. If such a Windows user configures his keyboard, this will
not hurt any other user.

Besides I think, it is not a good way, to set an issue wich such a lot of votes
an duplicates to "wontfix" without discussing this on [EMAIL PROTECTED]
