Using Windows XP and Calc 3.0 I used the following steps to create a new test
form.

Open a new calc sheet.

Type sheet description (cell B2)

Type first Text object name (cell B4)

Mark range B6:J14
Change range's background color to light yellow
Mark range B6:J14 (again) and add a border.
Insert a text object
On Cell B6 add a text object from menu ( Insert -> Object -> Ole Object... ->
OpenOffice.org 3.0 Text -> [Ok] )
>From lower right corner resize box to fit colored area.
keep default font
type some text inside the object.
Close the object.

Goto Cell B16
Type second Text object name (cell B16)

Goto Cell B18
Mark range B18:J26
Change range's background color to light blue
Mark range B18:J26 (again) and add a border.
Insert an object
On Cell B18 add a text object from menu ( Insert -> Object -> Ole Object... ->
OpenOffice.org 3.0 Text -> [Ok] )
>From lower right corner resize box to fit colored area.
Change the default font to Verdana
type some text inside the object.
Close the object.

Goto Cell B28
Type second Text object name (cell B28)

Goto Cell B30
Mark range B30:J38
Change range's background color to light blue
Mark range B30:J38 (again) and add a border.
Insert an object
On Cell B30 add a text object from menu ( Insert -> Object -> Ole Object... ->
OpenOffice.org 3.0 Text -> [Ok] )
>From lower right corner resize box to fit colored area.
type some text inside the object.
Mark te text and change it's color to red.
Close the object.

Save the file (I named it as IssueTestForm2).

Close the file.

Close calc.  Ready to test.

This time the test form behaved perfectly under 2 WinXP based PCs, 1 Windows
Vista PC and 2 Fedora 8 boxes. Note the the text was typed inside the text
objects using the same line, no new lines. (See IssueTestForm2.ods)

I made a copy of test file, then using Calc under F8, opened the copy and inside
Text Object No. 2, inserted 2 empty new lines an a third line with text after
the existing text (see IssueTestForm2-a.ods), then closed the object, saved and
close the file, I also closed Calc.

Using the same F8 machine I opened the test form and tried to edit again text
object No. 2, and guess what happened, Calc hangs again.

I'm sending the working test form and the one that hangs calc. Hope this help.

Regards.
