I admire the patience of Erikanderson3 who has kept the torch on this matter for five years and not even lost his manners yet. For me personally, I most often do not need the exact count of characters so I have made a rule of thumb for me “count – 15 %” that is close to correct or just count the number of pages and get about as accurate an answer.
