------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Nov 30 08:48:30 +0000 2008 ------- Using Windows Explorer to find a file, click on that file, OpenOffice starts, opens the file for a moment, then OpenOffice closes down. Wait for OpenOffice to close down, then click again on the same or other file in Windows Explorer, file opens successfully. Occasionally when the above happens, I get a report that Java is needed. Java is there, from your download OOo_3.0.0_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US.exe version 1.6.0_07. Java notified me that there is a newer version of the above, its 1.6.0_10 which I installed automatically and made sure this is recognized in OpenOffice under Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org > Java.
