Yes, I did :-). Thanks.

This information is experience: the problem is as follows: if one specifies an
icon_filename for a mime type in (now obsolete) mime-info/<mypackage>.keys,
gnome-vfs assumes everything behind the last '.' to be an extension.

So "openoffice.org-1.9-writer" will be treated as icon type "9-writer", which is
(surprise, surprise :)) unknown to gnome-vfs. The easiest fix would have been to
append ".png" to the filename string, but I somehow expected svg's to show up as
well - even though they did not up to now.

If I didn't get the Icon Theme Spec wrong, application specific icons should go
into the hicolor theme, where they would not collide with the gnome-icon-theme.

We can leave symlinks in the gnome theme for those GNOME versions that still
honor mime-info/*.keys (probably in the SuSE/Redhat package only.

I am also thinking about switching back to the TryExec mechanism with absolute
paths as you proposed earlier, because it would work around the mandrake bug of
not following symlinks in /usr/share/applications.

I did some tests before my vacation and it seems that the problem I had in mind
was before GNOME 2.x and KDE 3.x.

Wouldn't this move obsolete the writer, calc, etc. trigger ?
