I tried with and can confirm the problem.
I opened a Document with various images, one of them a linked .png. After I
saved the document as '.doc' for WORD97, the .png was missing, rgardless whether
I opened the new .doc with WORD, OOo1.1.4o or I checked with 2.0 (1.9.m79)
English version WIN XP: [680m79(Build8876)]
I found the reson in the picture menue box: instead of correct link
file:///E:/Rainer/Eigene Dateien/OpenOffice/FIRMA/FRMDLOGO/Bartels_logo3.png
there was a link to
file:///E:/Rainer/Eigene Dateien/OpenOffice/FIRMA/FRMDLOGO/Bartels_logo3.pn%00
which (of course) can not work.

I will
- check, wether bug is already known
- try to create a testkit, if it is not already known.

Rainer
