I am not contributing sample files, debug information, or anything else
to OOo due to your policy regarding the downplaying of and habitually
marking down the priority/serverity of serious performance-related
defects which in a professional development environment would be
considered fatal and blocking.

Should OOo's position as a whole change regarding the many, many similar
defects I saw in the tracking system, and should they decide that
addressing inherent architectural flaws is worthwhile before adding more
whiz-bang features, I would be more than happy to assist and contribute
to the project. Sadly, this is not the case.

Believe me, I know it is a heck of a lot more fun to develop new
features than it is to consolidate code, fix performance issues, and
address other painful architectural issues where it is difficult to
visually show users progress, but it is vital that such issues be
resolved as early as possible, because to add more and more features and
functionality to a badly-architected and slow-performing project only
increases the pain down the road - whether the end result being a
program so painful to develop and change that otherwise-willing
developers throw up their hands and abandon the project, users get
frustrated and turn to alternatives (such as doing what I did - go back
to M$ Office, via wine), or simply choose to flame the project managers
anywhere and everywhere at every possible opportunity - which reminds
me, I should throw up a quick web site citing all of the performance
issues OOo has marked down, and add the URL to my signature so that it
is publicises on various messageboards and mailing lists. ;)
Vindictive? Yes. However, I believe it is warranted given OOo's stance
on addressing major defects and performance issues. OOo seemingly
prefers to bondo over rust and call it a day. :(
