Mac OS 10.5.6 I can however get drag and drop to work correctly if after dragging has started and before dropping has occurred the "Command" (Apple) modifier key is pressed and held until dropping is finished. So select your range of cells, start to drag it, press and hold Command key, drop, let go of Command. This gives me proper results.
