I created a little test document, tried this and found that it is impossible to
select a cell with hidden text using the mouse, for example to set the
background colour. If I enabled control characters, it worked. But the strange
thing is that in a real document that I have, enabling control characters will
not show the hidden text. Furthermore, the toggle "show hidden paragraphs" in
the view menu does not seem to have any effect. This is with openoffice 3.0.0
on Gentoo.
