The problematic files are odp files created with the same version of impress, and can be as small as 25 kB. When I disconnect from the network, the files open very fast. To reproduce the problem: wget http://cbernet.home.cern.ch/cbernet/Files/slow.odp ooimpress slow.odp On my system, ooimpress stops responding for a few minutes. Finally, the file opens. When offline, the file opens without any problem. I'm using impress 3.0.0 in fedora 10, on a X86_64 computer Name : openoffice.org-impress Arch : x86_64 Epoch : 1 Version : 3.0.0 Release : 9.10.fc10 My feeling is that impress might be trying to connect to a remote server when online, but I don't know how to track that down.
