The Writer file must be connected to the database created by the Calc document. The crash usually happens when I extract fields from the Calc document -sheet called "contacts" (the people I want to send the letter to), using the filter function, with results copied into the "extract" sheet. I then open the Writer file (that contains fields from the Calc document) and attempt to have the document printed as a fusion from the data contained in the "extract" sheet, with the results dumped into a single file (not printed directly).
