Also, the X11 version of OpenOffice.org is also not state-of-the-art anymore, since OOo 3.0, there is an Aqua port. In short: Do you mind trying a more recent version? Chances are pretty good that the issue is fixed there. The latest stable release is 3.0.1, and can be obtained from http://download.openoffice.org.
