------- Additional comments from lancerk...@openoffice.org Mon Feb 16 16:25:01 +0000 2009 ------- My hardware: MacBook Pro 17", OSX 10.5.6, 4GB of RAM The screen sometimes fails to repaint the text correctly due to heavy scrolling or (most often) when using "Find" to search for words. It also seems to happy more often when displaying more than one page at a time on a widescreen monitor. (Images attached.) It will also occur on a single page display. To solve the problem, I either restart open office or I use page up/down to force a refresh. Sometimes I have to change my display to single page to get text or cursor highlighting to show up. The following describes the most likely steps to reproduce the problem: 1) Open the attached.odt on a widescreen capable laptop/computer. 2) Set menu: view->"Print layout" 3) Click the "pages side by side" icon on the lower right area and set Zoom to 85%. (See first attachment.) 4) Select first paragraph and delete it. (This will cause the wordprocessor to deal with a "compaction" of the words in the document which tickles the bug.) 5) Use find (apple-F) and search for "ly", keep pressing "enter" to search for next occurrence, watching the screen for text rendering problems: "ly" may not highlight; "ly" may highlight but then pressing enter to go to the next occurrence results in finding the next occurrence but the highlighting of the previous occurrence is left behind (minor problem but a prelude to larger issues); the text doesn't render correctly and is unreadable. Try step five and keep searching for a few pages. If the problem doesn't show up, delete another paragraph block and try searching again. The problem should show up in a minute or so. (Images of incorrect rendering attached.) Sometimes the software will completely freeze once this state occurs: * can't do anything but force quit it * the "find" functionality stops operating, and although I can save, OpenOffice exits and then goes into document recovery. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
