(link checkbox in filepicker). With movie files or plugins, you don't have this option, the file is always linked, but this is not indicated to the user in any way. A picture in writer has the Picture... item in its context menu, and it is possible to edit the file link there. In Draw/Impress this option is also missing for pictures; still you have the possibility to edit the link via Edit, Links. For plugin / media shapes, there is no option to edit the file link. Ideally, all object types should provide the same options: 1. Provide the option to be embedded or linked. 2. Linked files should be listed in Edit, Links 3.
