Good afternoon
Finally got the printing going of the merge of my wifes customers, and the
mailing (invoice) that was a hard battle because of the issue below.
Sorry to claim defect - others might call it a feature change, enhancement
request etc, but in its form, I really think it is a defect.

When doing a mailmerge from a text file written in writer, and a spreadsheet
made in calc (OpenOffice 3.0.1 (french, but should not matter for the issue))
some times the filter condition is not taken into account.

I do the mailmerge like this:
in writer (sorry if the menu items references are not entirely correct - I have
to guess what the english menues are called, since I only have the french
version) do:
Tools, mailmerge, use active document, next (letter), next, select an address
list, choose spreadsheet and column, and then click filter - I use "not empty"
as filter, then "next" until the merge happens.

IF the column you are filtering on contains both alpha-numeric cells and numeric
cells (cell format is left to auto). Then the filtering will not happen, and a
letter will get created for all lines in the spreadsheet (no user warning). If
you have either pure numeric cells (and empties of course) or pure
alpha-numeric (I guess, but did not test) it will work - only documents will get
created where the filter cells contains stuff (remember I filter on "not empty".
Wether this is working as designed or not is less interesting until at least
the user is notified, that his filter is ignored because of mixed content OR
even better, it treats mixed content in a meaningfull way (if this means cutting
the filtering options, so be it :-)

Hope the above makes sense - it was written late evening after many hours of
troubleshooting.

Thanks for a great product!!
