I am curious which font works for your test (did you download the one that I used for my test?). Particularly, which locale (language) did you test this? As I said, I used Ubuntu 8.10, OOo 2.4.1, all default installation, no by-packed build. I also tried on Windows XP with OOo 3.0, although the text alignment work ok, but it can only display with one Chinese font (SimSun) no matter which font you choose (under English locale too).
