This is best illustrated by the attached file, as the initial state does have some effect. Here are the essential steps to reproduction: Copy an object, paste it. Portions of the copy will be not be in the same place as the original. This occurs whether the object itself is copied, or whether the entire containing slide is copied. When it occurs through copying, the same changes result when the object is grouped. Note that this is distinct from bug 94946.
