File -> Properties -> Custom Properties -> Add "Document Number" and type "0.1" 3. Insert the "Document Number" field to the document 4. Modify the custom field in the File -> Properties -> Custom Properties ... type "0.2" 5. then you should find the value unable to update It seems only affect the newly added field.
