------- Additional comments from m...@openoffice.org Wed Apr 1 15:08:43 +0000 2009 ------- hi sos, i think we already have document variables (but i believe we cannot import/export word document variables properly): see issue 100121 furthermore, the fact that OOo 2 displays only 4 user-defined properties in its UI is a bug, not a feature. in the ODF format, there can be arbitrarily many user-defined properties, and implementations other than OOo (like KOffice and Lotus) may or may not display all the user-defined properties. the ODF format does not allow designating some user-defined properties as "hidden", so any implementation that does this _properly_ would require a proposal to the ODF TC. from my understanding, the ODF TC wants to deprecate the whole meta.xml thing because ODF 1.2 introduced the new RDF metadata, so such a proposal is imho unlikely to be accepted. which brings me to another point: you'll be able to use RDF metadata to store any amount of user-defined stuff that (at least at first) won't be displayed in the UI. there's an API, maybe even already in OOo 3.2. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
