------- Additional comments from andym...@openoffice.org Sat Apr 4 00:31:24 +0000 2009 ------- (This problem seems to be reported in numerous forums on the net in various guises, including 2000, Vista, XP and multiple versions of OOO - but this bug report limited to a specific concrete test case - partly because the issue entry form wont let me select multiple versions of OOO) If I install OOO 2.4.1 onto a fresh Windows 2000 SP4 installation, it just works. If I install OOO 2.4.1 onto a fresh Windows 2000 SP4 having subsequently installed the newer version of the Windows Installer, (originally from KB893803), then attempt to install OOO 2.4.1, it fails with the infamous Error 1335 problem in openofficeorg-blah.cab error message. In all cases: *** The MD5 sum has been verified before commencing installation *** Uninstalling MSI3.1 does not fix the problem. Installing dotNet 2 does not fix the problem. Trying OOO 2.3.2 does not fix the problem Trying OOO 2.0.2 does not fix the problem. I have also in the past seen the same problem with 3.0.1 and GO-OO 3.0.19 but in this case did not have them handy when concretely replicating the problem. The computer I tried on was nothing special, simply a older Pentium 2 with 384MB RAM and plenty of hard drive. On the surface this may appear to be a duplicate of 49692 and 98825, but as stated, the same image with same correct MD5 sum works in one circumstance but not another. The only workarounds I have found to date is to fresh install Windows and immediately install OOO, and/or never update the Windows Installer. This issue is a big problem; it makes it more difficult to convert normal computer using friends and family from Microsoft Word when you cant install !!! I am in the process of setting up VMWare so that I can try again with OOO 3.0.1 and XP, when I get some time. thanks, Andrew --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
