The issue occurs on Windows Vista as well and is reproducible. It seems that the freezing behaviour is related to the style settings. More specifically, when I unzip the odt file causing the problem, edit the style.xml file and modify value of the attribute fo:margin-top of element <style:page- layout-properties> which is a subelement of <style:page-layout> which is a subelement of <office:automatic-styles>, then the issue appears or not depending on the value. If the value is set to 1.7cm (which is the value I originally have in my file) (or 1.8cm) then the file (obtained by zipping back the unzipped file) will cause the problem. If the value is set to 2cm, then the problem disappears. Hence it seems that the problem is related to metric settings of the style of the document. I have other files, with the same style but different content that do not cause a problem.
