------- Additional comments from passer_domesti...@openoffice.org Tue Apr 14 16:22:53 +0000 2009 ------- Tanks to mru and regina for their helpful comment. Yes, the problem arose with a document from an older version of Oo. I did not think, that Oo treats documents from different versions differntly. The funy thing is, that with a document fom an older version of Oo, the dialog for the properties of numbering looks different, it misses the item Position > numbering is followed by ... With a new document, a tab after the numbering is preset, which is perfectly ok. But the preset positions are not really such that one gets an alignment as described in my post. One has to go to set the desired tab position plus the indentation settings including the outdentation of the first line. At least I can get the appearance which I want, now if I use: properties of numbering to * numbering followed by Tab * at 1 cm * alignment of numbering: Left (nice to be able to choose tab-type here) * at 1 cm * indentation at 0 cm * paragraph alignment 1 cm with the first line -1 cm The Online Help text should be enhanced a bit to describe e.g. the things as I described them above, unless one chooses to follow my other suggestion: One should consider making things easier for the user, e.g. letting the user choose the tab indentation to be the one for the paragraph plus the outdentation of the first line? Of course, in the German online help it tells "Die Option Ausrichtung der Nummerierung dient nicht zur Einstellung der Absatzausrichtung." (the option to set the position of numbering is not intended to make the paragrsaph alignment). But since this is also frequently used when defining numbered paragraphs, one might introduce a field "paragraph alignment according to tab- alignment" which, when checked, would apply (without further user action) the tab-indentation to the two places of the paragraph indentation (for the first line with the oposite sign, of course). === The benefit of entering tab characters woud become apparent, if tab and other control characters could be entered in various dialogs, as find/replace. But let's start another thread with that. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
