Basically, what is needed is the same behavior of <ol> in html: the possibility to define a paragraph style that restarts numbering of the items that come after it. Note that how items are numbered is logically an attribute of the paragraph style that starts a list of items, at least in all word processors that allow separation of contents from formatting.
