Hmm. The problem with this suggestion is multiple ranges.
If you mark one area, hold the Ctrl key pressed and mark another range somewhere
else on the sheet, what should OOo display then? The total number of cells?
Anyway, why do you need equal sized ranges for pasting? I just click on the top
left corner of the target are and select "Paste".
