Process for replication:
0. Check that
     Tools > Customize... > Keyboard > Shift+Home
is set to 'select to begin of line'. Shift+Home is a white arrow pointing up
followed by a NW pointing arrow.
1. Type five lines of text in Writer
2. Put cursor in middle of the third line
3. Press Home or End to confirm that cursor moves to start or end of line.
4. Press Shift-Home or Shift-End

Desired outcome:
Text is selected from start of line to original cursor position OR original
cursor position to end of line

What actually happens:
Text is selected from start of DOCUMENT to original cursor position OR original
cursor position to end of DOCUMENT.

Tested with Mac OS X 10.5.6 with OOo 3.0.0 (works as expected) and 3.1.0
(DEFECT).

<vent>Fundamental stuff like this needs to be tested before release! I'm a
time-strapped PHP/Flash tutor trying to get paperwork done in an environment
where my employer refuses to buy MS Office, not a software engineer who has time
to volunteer on a QA team. It's trivial crap like this that gives OSS a bad
name.</vent>
