It's been interesting. Why don't you ask some users what they think about "Excel compatibility" vs. "we think *this* is *better* for you". I'd put $50 on "Excel compatibility" being the overwhelming winner. But try it and find out. "We *think* this is *better* for you" is fine sometimes, but if you're driving acceptance of an office suite by typical users who just want to get their work done, then surprises are generally not going to win you customers. And if the surprise is a wrong mathematical result that's almost impossible to catch... well, that's never welcome.
