Thank you to everyone for the suggestions. Now I did this, like vq said:
$ ssh -v -v -v -2 -x -L 2401:localhost:2401 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'm attaching 3 screenshots to show the results. Sorry about the screenshots,
but I don't remember how to send this stuff to a file. I haven't used DOS in 10
years, and good riddance to it, I say! :-)

Yes, but I *did not* create my key using cygwin. I created it using PuTTY,
months ago. IIRC (and I might be misremembering), PuTTY asked me what name I
wanted for the keys, and I gave them a different name. So the public key I sent
to OOo had a different name. Does OOo store the public key with the name I gave
it, or some other name? I have no idea.

I don't know when I'll have time to look at this again, maybe not for 2 or 3
weeks. BTW, Willy, I'm a "she". :-) Cheers, Jean
