It is common for applications that attempt to fit into the OS X environment to 
provide user interface with a 
gradient lighter-gray to darker-gray background that extends from the top of 
the window (including the 
title bar) to the bottom of the main toolbar.  I am attaching a screenshot 
illustrating this.

Adding this graphical change to OpenOffice on OS X would make a huge difference 
as to how native the 
program feels on the platform.
