WE have to resort to using OO.org 2.4 as it still crashes for our daily workflow. I followed the instructions I wrote exactly again and the problem persists. When "closing" OO.org one has to close the quickstarter as well. Also, not open using the dialogs. The problem shows up when the contents of a linked graphic emf object in a multi-page document are changed (and we have not selected "Edit->Links" then "update") and OO.org Draw opens it.
