The largest part of the removed code is intended to be used in future, replacing former duplicate functionality. Removing these would mean to start the work from beginning. 2. In some cases removed functions are removed from classes that are library-like. So while they are curently not used, they may be at any moment, and one wouldn't like to 3. Now, autodoc crashes at a file where it formerly just detected a problem and continued.
