Impress should be able to handle footnotes (displayed at the bottom of the slides) and endnotes (dedicated slide). For example, I might want to cite C. Amsler et al. (2008). "Review of Particle Physics", <i>Physics Letters B</i> <b>170</b>:1 on the 5th slide, and C. Godbout, B.J. Siwick (2009).
