------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Apr 12 00:38:42 -0700 2005 ------- The problem with an X server hanging when requested to display some CJK X11 fonts is well known (see http://x-tt.sourceforge.jp/documentation.html or #b5067833#), because the X11 server requests the metrics of every glyph in the font and for 40000 autohinted glyphs this can take a while. When using the XTT font server module instead of the FreeType module the problem goes away. The problem is also solved in the newest (>= 4.4.0) X.org X11 servers (see http://www.xfree86.org/4.4.0/RELNOTES2.html#12). Unless the XTT font module or the new X.org server is used a good workaround is to disable the font preview feature by unchecking the checkbox in the dialog Tools->Options->OpenOffice->View->FontLists->"Show Preview of Fonts". Other than disabling X11 fonts completely in OOo (see issue 35641) there is nothing OOo can do to solve this X server problem, so from OOo's point of view it is not a defect in OOo. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
