Unfortunately this issue is not easy for me to detail although I spent a lot of time trying to decode every detail. I guess there has to be something related to the network and/or shared folders that is particularly relevant for this problem. In fact, as I previously said, if I try to open the files locally everything works. For sure OOo 3.1.0 has a different approach to external linked spreadsheets than previous versions, but unfortunately I've not found useful elements to give an exact point to investigate on.
