2009 -------
All files contained in the document file are signed. In future versions this
will also include the contents of META-INF. Every version of the document is
saved as zip file within document (folder versions). Therefore adding an
additional version will break the signature, because the number of files
contained in the document is also used to calculated the validation result.
Signing only a particular version would require that the respective version
files are not part of the signature. This is not going to happen. We want to
make sure that it is impossible to add new files to the document, without
breaking the signature.

The signature applies therefore to the whole document including all versions.
