Yes it could have been that! But I still cannot reproduce it the way you describe it. :( On *my system*: I see clearly an update of the vertical ruler (less than 0.5 sec). But even when scrolling up and losing my cursor *before* this update happens, I don't get the jump. :( My system: I think you are right to talk about "fast" computer and big screen resolution because I "feel" we have here an update/timer problem which is harder to reproduce when you have a fast system. My system is not the best on the market (Intel Core Duo CPU with 3GHz and 2G RAM - but, hey! Not the slowest! ;) ) and my display is done over HP w2558hc in 1920x1200 and over NVIDIA GeForce 9500GT... But it may be a reason why I cannot reproduce it. I have to confess that in the meantime I could YES reproduce this jump after creating documents with 50-2000 pages with page breaks. But not in a manner which can be *reproducible*! It happened for me after *a while* (meaning I created a big document and didn't touched for some minutes). When I wrote some text on a page x and scroll very fast to page x+1.
