I am using an Arch Linux build environment with patch 2.5.9 I remember that I had the very same issue with curl. The issue there was that my version of patch cannot handle Windows/Unix Linefeeds. Some lines before the actual error occures "leconvert.pl" is invoked that seems to handle the linefeed issues. So do I really need a patched version of patch?
