This "anchored as character" is more complicated. There is also some problems with page break. I have a test case and documents here. A. Create a (Word 97 type) document in Word 97. Add two figures/images/pictures. The first image is not wider as the page, i.e. the space for text. A1. Add as "Paste special" and "as picture". Equivalent to "anchor AS character" in OpenOffice A.2. The second images is somewhat wider as the page, i.e. the space for text. Add as "Paste special" and "as picture". Equivalent to "anchor AS character" in OpenOffice A.3. Add page break. Add those two figures to page 2 also. A.4. Screenshots in this phase: A_page_1__in_Word_97.jpg A_page_2__in_Word_97.jpg B.1. Open the document in OpenOffice 3.1.0. Make same changes "Save as" with different name, in 97/2000/XP format. Saved as "B_in_OpenOffice_3.1.0.doc" in this test. B.2. Program info: - WIN XP SP 2 + latest updates - OOo 3.1.0 - OOO310m11 - build 9399 - Finnish Language Pack: OOo_3.1.0rc2_20090427_Win32Intel_langpack_fi.exe Program info: - PCLinuxOS LXDE.2009.4 - OOo 3.1.0 - OOO310m11 - build 9399 - there is also mentioned that Build 3.1.0.5 - Finnish OpenOffice - updates by PCLinuxOS package manager. Program info: - Debian 5 - OOo 2.4.1 - open-office.core. 1:24.1+dfsg-1 - Wed Mar 25 21:25:25 UTC 2009 - Finnish OpenOffice - updates by package manager. It seems that this problem might be in versions from 2.4.1 to 3.1.0.
