What is unfair and also very condescending are comments like:
"If you think it ridiculous, please, patches are always welcome." and 
"if it really itches you that much, scratch it and provide a patch."

Comments like these imply that only who are developers  have the right to make 
comments. Intentional or 
not, this type of comments reek of a superiority attitude of developers towards 
mere users. Without users, 
developers would be without a job. Also, who would report bugs to the 
developers?
