It's called "ring switcher" and it is commonly used in Linux to switch windows. The advantage is that we can look for the slide that we are searching in a bigger size, as well as we can see many slides at one time. Thus,this method is good to use when we have a presentantion with a lot of slides designed with considerable text. In addition, the interaction is very dynamic and we can easily go forth and back.
