In this case I wanted to format them to Heading 1 if the content of the cell equals "F". As you can see the only formated cell contains the letter "R". Compare with the attached screenshot number 1. The second screenshot shows you a real word example in one of my real sheets. There I am searching for the letter "D" but all kinds of letters are formated, just not the letter D. I won't find the time today to strip down the example even more, but perhaps somebody reading this issue can already confirm it?
