Using OOo 3.1.1 MacIntel; Mac OS Extended filesystem (Journaled), a * .BAK file
is created when
Preferences> load/save…>General>"Always create backup copy" is checked.
It is created at the "right" place, which is the directory given in
Preferences>Paths>Backups, which
defaults to ~Library/Application Support/OpenOffice.org/3/user/backup.
Also works with a non-default Document path in references>Paths which is
containing blanks then.
