Currently, there is no reason to keep it. We really should try to reduce the number of options. Too much choice is sometimes bad :-) OLE objects (and therefore Calc tables) are different, since they get deactivated by "Pictures and drawings". Here, we may also add the (technical) term "OLE objects".
