In my opinion possibility of using true exponential notation like 1.99<product symbol-user should choose: default Unicode 00D7, Unicode 00B7 and his/her own from character map>10<superscripted 8> in labels is necessary. It is possible in some proprietary products like Origin or Grapher, but it isn't satissfactory (product sign - letter "x").
