It always changes the application to the database, e.g. I pin Writer to the task bar, but on clicking it, Base opens. The only way round it is to navigate to the program folder then drag the executable to the desktop. Note, after installing office the only icon that appears in the start group (when you click on the Windows Start button) rather than when you navigate down to the open office menu, is Base. So I don't know if this is linked. This happens for all open office applications, including the office dialog where you can choose to start a new or open an existing item.
