Something odd happened: I uninstalled OOo3.1.1, deleted the remaining directory and reinstalled OOo3.1.1 again. This time using the recommended settings (I customised the settings during the previous installation). I created four files, namely 1x .odt (see Issue 105811), 1x .ods, 1x .odg and 1x .odp, and saved these documents once to the standard directory to save documents to in Windows Vista and once to a random other directory. I was able to save all documents without any problems.
