I'm suffering with this symbol font and bullet problem and have decided to buy Microsoft Office instead. Maybe entering a comment here isn't the correct way to prioritize this issue, but just getting to this issue log was quite a chore. I strongly suggest that you fix this font problem. The academic community is a big factor in open-source software and writing them off is not a wise thing to do.
