It's much slower than any other Mac app I have and also much slower than NeoOffice--the Mac variant of OpenOffice. I have my system preference set for fastest possible scroll wheel speed AND and have purchased add-on mouse control software that allows much faster scrolling with mouse scroll wheel. OpenOffice scrolling is still way too slow. This isn't a new issue. I would use NeoOffice; however, the display of graphic objects within the Writer module on Mac systems (I have 250-page documents with scores of pasted graphic objects) is much better in OpenOffice than in NeoOffice. My system is a 2.16ghz core 2 duo (MacBook) running Leopard (10.5.7). I've used OpenOffice in Ubuntu on a slower PC than my Mac and scrolling is fine.
